There is so much going on that it is hard to follow. Imagine what it feels like being bombarded by missiles for 23 days.
Here is a potpourri of somewhat connected thoughts.
My nephew who was in the process of being released from the IDF had been called back because of the war. When you have people you love in the war then the war becomes personal. It is no longer something that happens to someone else, it is in your life.
History shmistory: In the 19th century we were trying to assimilate and be like everyone else. This did not end up very well as history attests to. Then we said: lets have our own place and it still seems killing Jewish people (now living in Israel) is an obsession with millions of people around the globe, so.. what is a Jew to do???
I am always looking for simple ways to think, I do not like having my brain cluttered with a million thoughts. So here is one: What if someone's life purpose was killing you personally and was using a child to protect himself?! What would you and I do? Is it any different for Israel ?!
We all think we are right. But does it lead anywhere? Maybe we can let go of the need to be right and focus on what works? What will bring the most benefit to all? Quite an impossible idea to contemplate these days.
So here is a joke about being right. The president goes to visit the jail to find inmates to give amnesty to. Every inmate he meets claims they are innocent except for one inmate who said he was there because of the wrong he committed.
The president immediately decreed that this inmate must be released to protect all the other pure innocent prisoners from his bad influence.
If any of you would like to express their sentiments towards Israel and Israelis at this time you may send it to me and I will pass it on.
In peace
