Israel Ramble letters
Boaz ThumbnailDear friend,

The best time to be in Israel is.. right now

I wish I can take you all to Israel now, I wish I were there myself. The land is lush, flowers are everywhere, spring is in the air, it is not hot yet and the winter cold is over, birds are vociferous, the trees are happy they reieved the winter rains. The rivers in the north are flowing, green and freshness is abundant. I have drove through the Jordan valley few months ago and saw how the hills begun turning green the norther I drove through the barren hills. I can only imagine how much greener they are now.

Enjoy the holiday,

A story for your soul
Paper slips in the cracks of the Western Wall
Many years ago I have heard this story from an old friend in Israel who gave me a permission to reproduce it here from my memory. It is a true story. Recently I found it is also published in a small wonderful book called "Small Miracles, extraordinary coincidences from everyday life". Since it is a completely different rendition of the same story, and since I have never seen the book until after I wrote this story, and since the friend I have heard it from also didn't know about the book until later, I feel it is OK for me to send you my recollection of this soul story. I will not publish it on my blog though.

Adam Riklis of Cleveland Ohio was a holocaust survivor and proud of his Judaism, his inheritance, the education he provided to his children. He has a young son, Joe, of 17 years old. They attended  Synagogue occasionally, mostly on holidays.

One day Joe came to his father, saying, he is not interested any longer in his Jewish faith. His father brushed that aside, knowing it was only a whim of a teen age boy. A day later Joe came back to his father saying he is renouncing the Jewish faith all together and is not going to take part any longer in Jewish tradition. As a matter of fact he said, "I am going away to India to find myself"

Kineret
Lake kineret corner

The kineret lake is not rising now. There was a little rain on Passover which caught some people unprepared, but not enough to have a significant effect. From what I heard, due to the plenty o' rain this winter, the above the ground water reservoirs are also being full. So we are starting the dry season with enough water. All we need are few more winters like that..
