The bride comes

A day before the bride comes we prepare the house, the foods. Our thoughts are projecting to the next day when we will once more feel peace. A lot of food needs to be prepared, for when she comes there is no messing with cooking any longer. A day before she comes we clean our homes. I would always help my mom clean the book shelves, clean the dishes, everything has to be clean before she comes. She comes once a week every week.

For her we prepare, and when she comes she brings rest and surety, we know what to do, we know what she wants. We are the groom and she is the bride. We can smell her as she comes, we prepare flowers and light candles to her. Some says she has her angles with her.  When she comes we are reassured that all is well and we stay together for a day and a little bit more, we know she will come again.

A minute before she comes a siren goes off to let us all know that it is time and she indeed is eminently here. She is always prompt; we can tell she is at the gate because the sun is at the top of the trees. She never had not come.

After she comes all relaxes. The pace slows down, the mind calms. She has no favorites, we are all favored. When she is around we pray, we sing, we rest, we read the weekend newspapers. We refrain from talking about things that may upset her, we do not like to cause our bride any distress, why, we would like her to linger as long as possible.

When time draws to a close, when she needs to depart, we cherish every moment, we do not really want her to go. We light candles again to let her and us know that time had come and we need once more to depart for 6 more days.

We feel some sadness at her departure. But the busyness of our lives makes us forget that just minutes ago we were in her presence, in her bliss.

Few days after, we have almost forgotten she had ever existed, but that does not last long because soon after we get a reminder that it is time again to get ready, prepared.

The bride is Shabbat, the place the Kibbutz and the time was once a week promptly..

Israel reality shows
Israel wanted to become a "normal country" like all other countries, with its own thieves, judges and thieves, unfortunately it succeeded. It even imported every conceivable reality show from across the globe, some of them I  became hooked to, like "A star is born" (The Israeli Idol) and "Born to Dance". These shows sometimes discover amazing performers, watch this
THE HOPE

We Israelis are all engraved with the sound and words of hatikvah, the hope. It signifies our unity and shared destiny. It imbued our most solemn moments. Even the cynics are touched. For the real history ofhatikvah click here. If you have more time you can click here for a longer interview, a-m-a-z-i-n-g. You will understand the connection of Israel to the Jewish diaspora much deeper.

Translation: As long as the Jewish spirit is yearning deep in the heart,
With eyes turned toward the East, looking toward Zion,
Then our hope - the two-thousand-year-old hope - will not be lost:
To be a free people in our land,
The land of Zion and Jerusalem
Want to see Israel in new ways?
How should we approach Jerusalem?
